ABSTRACT
The main focus of this study is drive towards investigation of the covid-19 safety compliance level of transport companies in Abuja using Akwa Ibom Transport Company in Jabi as case study.Survey research design was adopted for the study and with the aid of convenient sampling method, the researcher selected Thirty-Six (36) participant who are Staff and Drivers in Akwa Ibom Transport Company in Jabi as the respondent of the study. Well structured questionnaire was issued to the 36 respondent of which total of 30 responses were retrieved and validated for the study. Data was analyzed in frequencies and tables using simple percentage.Findings from the study revealed that the extent at which Akwaibom transport companies comply to safety guidelines such has the use of physical barriers and social distance which proves to be the first line of defense against the coronavirus pandemic is high. Other guidelines include encouraging passengers to wash their hands at the entrance of the gate regular hand with water and soap. And as well issue them alcohol based sanitizers before entering inside the scheduled bus hence this aides in the significantly curtailing the spread of the virus. The study therefore recommends that Provision should be made at the entrance of all transportation business environment and passengers should always be mandated to wash their hands before getting on transit. More so, Members of the public especially those travelling should continuously be sensitized on the use of face masks and strict adherence to other covid-19 preventive measures this is because CoronaVirus is still real and spreading.
